Hi, I'm Edgar!

In June 2022, Georgia adopted me from Greyhounds As Pets WA. Greyhounds make great pets because they are gentle, loving, loyal, and intelligent (even if I do say so myself). They are also very sensitive to their owners’ needs and usually bond quickly with their family. Greyhounds are generally low maintenance dogs (I sleep 22 hours a day) and can be content with a moderate amount of exercise. We also adapt well to living in apartments and other smaller living spaces.

Greyhounds as Pets WA is a program that is designed to assist retired racing greyhounds in finding loving homes. The program provides adoption and foster care opportunities for retired racing greyhounds to live out their golden years in a comfortable and safe home/ clinic environment. The program offers support and guidance to adoptive families, as well as resources to help them provide the best care for their adopted greyhound.

If you’ve met me, you know I am pretty lovely. GAP did a great job of matching me to Georgia’s circumstances. You can find out more about the Greyhound Adoption process here: https://www.greyhoundsaspets.com.au/

I was reasonably successful in my racing career, I was a long distance specialist and could run 715m in 41 seconds. My racing name was Casus Belli. I had a really spectacular bloodline when it came to racing. People said “I could have been anything”. I broke my right hind leg twice during racing, and although my trainer and kennel staff rehabbed me really well and looked after me, I finished up racing when I was about 4 years old. Here’s an article they wrote about me!

I spent about 3 months at GAP waiting to be adopted, and since living with Georgia and working/sleeping at Summit, I have learned lots about becoming a real dog. I had never seen stairs when Georgia first brought me home! Since then, I have dug holes, gone on holidays, played with other dogs, I don’t really get “playing ball”, but I have swum in the ocean! I am having the best time.

At the clinic, I mostly sleep in Georgia’s room. People tell me I am beautiful, give me a pat and then I go straight back to sleep! I know that some people don’t like dogs, so I can stay in my room when I need to!

Thanks for reading about my life!
